I tend to savor unique and delightful gifts from faraway places, wanting to preserve them for the perfect occasion. Often, I tuck them away, safe from accidental consumption by a hungry teen or the curious fingers coated in banana peel slime of the youngest or the quick-to-dispose hand of a husband who despises cluttered countertops. How I long for the gift to be savored for its worth and not thoughtlessly consumed, damaged, or tossed in the trash. This is why I tuck away such things.
