Christmas Company

Consider:

Christmas traditions hang on the mantle of family and gathering together to enjoy the company and endearing rituals as unique as the people who engage in them. With each passing year, we entertain with zeal as we welcome those closest to us, inviting them to share in our love for all things Christmas.

Who do you entertain over the holidays and what traditions stay alive among you?

God values relationships, evident in a long history of drawing people to Him.  He created you with a relationship in mind!

Explore:

Read Galatians 4:1-7 and just camp out in verse 6 for a while.

Does your Spirit cry out for Abba (Daddy)? Do you enjoy a vibrant relationship with Him?  Why or why not? Talk that out with Him, and don’t be afraid to ask Him hard questions…he never gets tired of answering your questions!

God’s relationship with us echoes in our relationships with each other. He enjoys watching us share life together, including our holiday traditions. Read 1 Thess. 4:9.

Do you feel like you’ve been taught by God in the area of love? If so, how?

His love for relationship ignited the very first Christmas in Bethlehem! See John 3:16 for proof of that!

Do you believe He loved you so much to send His Son to walk the walk and then save you and make you free? He did! Talk this out with Him, and/or a friend if you struggle with the reality of salvation.

Have you ever thought about who God invited into the very first Christmas? We can learn much about how to entertain during the holidays when we look at God’s guest list for the very event that inspires our own Christmas traditions.

Over the next two weeks, we will explore these four guests:

  • The Divine
  • The Dear
  • The Disadvantaged
  • The Distant

Pray:

Ask God to open your heart in hospitality to these four guests this season. Thank Him for His desire for a relationship with you and the way your relationship with Him inspires you to relate to others around you. Spend time just sitting with a quiet heart in the presence of His company.
