A Call to Action
Consider:
God’s the best story-writer. His choice to reveal the long-awaited news of the Messiah to the Shepherds creates quite the unexpected and thought-provoking scene! As soon as the shepherds heard the announcement, they compared notes and then just had to act.
Read Luke 2:15-16 and verse 20. What did the shepherds do?
Can you relate to the shepherds? Has God ever revealed something to you which required immediate action?
Explore:
Remember the shepherds were not the most important citizens in the community, yet God chose to reveal Jesus’ birth to them first. He knew their response would be immediate and impossible to ignore!
They hurried to follow the directions of the angel and then went searching for the unique and unlikely sign. The shepherds found the angel’s message to be exact….and amazing! Verse 20 shows they returned to work, but were still overjoyed to play a part in God’s story.
What about you? Or what about the “least” in your world? Has God offered you a revelation with a requirement to act? Have you felt a feeling of amazement to play a part in God’s story? Record your thoughts.
When I think about the shepherds receiving the revelation and their initiative to act, I think about the “least” around me and the possibility of them receiving a revelation, prompting immediate action. Perhaps you have someone in mind too, an addict or a homeless person. Can you imagine the possible life change in such a person if the Messiah was revealed to them in an awe-inspiring way?
Pray:
Pray for a revelation so impactful it prompts immediate action. Ask God to reveal Himself to the people in need around you in such a way as to inspire action, maybe even life-changing action. Invite God to bring a revelation to your own life and commit to immediate action.
In our recent days Jesus has been revealing Himself in dreams to Muslims. This has prompted belief and action Jesus do this in our land. Reveal yourself so salvation springs forth. Bring revival.
